The Weekend of the Strawberry Necklace

Hello Again!

Do any of you own an accessory or piece of clothing that serves as a "lucky charm" or an instant mood booster? I know I do, it's my strawberry necklace. I wore this necklace most of last weekend, and what a great weekend it was!

I first introduced the srtrawberry necklace to my blog last year, when I wrote a post about the Flaming Lips concert.

The weekend started a bit early for me. I had lunch with Aron at Newks, and took the opportunity to don my fave aqua stripe shirt and the necklace :)

Top: Walmart
Cardigan: Mossimo
Skirt: Torrid
Sunglasses: Target
Bag: Betseyville
Necklace: eBay

Later that evening, we met up with Becca and John for Mexican food. It was yummmm and the margaritas were super smooth! We had a great time, and ended up staying until closing.

I spent Saturday with Tracy and Steph for a much needed Girls Day Out. Here's what I wore:

Top: Ross for $4!
Skirt: Torrid
Hair Flower: Lola's Lovelies (haven't listed these yet, coming soon!)
Necklace: eBay

We met up at Tracy's house, where she had cupcakes and goodie baskets waiting for us! How thoughtful and cool is that?

The mini cupcakes were frickin amazing!
The goodie basket was full of candy, nail polishes, makeup, and more!

We chatted for a while, then headed out to the Up and Down Closet in Hendersonville. It is a consignment shop specializing in ladies plus size clothing. I found a couple of cute things, which I will be sure to blog about soon!
I asked the saleslady to take our pic. I guess we weren't ready :)
So, I took one of us outside. Where is half of Stephs head? And why is that creepy mannequin staring at us?

After shopping, we headed over to a local restaurant called Black Eyed Peas, and ate some yummy, Southern style fare. And we talked a bunch, of course. Can I tell you how lucky I am to know both of these wonderful women? No drama, no bs, just real friendships-and that is a blessing for me.

After dinner, we headed back to Tracy's for some cocktails & crafting. We also watched "The Help", which was amazing and made me bawl my eyes out.

Sunday I spent with Aron looking for a car. We headed up to the Nissan dealership in Nashville, and low and behold, he found one! Generally, we wouldn't invest in a large vehicle, but we need it for our conventions.

Bye Bye Vue
Hello Pathfinder!

This was one of the best weekends I've had in a long time.

Well, it looks like Spring has come early this year. Though I know it will make for a hellacious Summer, it I'm loving it. Winter 2011/2012 was not the best time in my life, and I am happy to see it go. Onto the better days :)

Have a great Thursday!

Happy Weekend!

To celebrate this weekend, I thought I'd share some moments from last weekend, hee hee. Really though, I've just been slacking on blogging. Sometimes, there just aren't enough hours in the day, sigh....

Aron snapped a few photos for me, then we headed out to lunch....

Dress: Torrid
Cardigan, Leggings, Bow Flats: Mossimo
Cherry Necklace and Sunglasses: Target

We ended up at Your Burger, a local chain. They serve classic burgers, but also have some healthier options. I chose the turkey burger on wheat, and Aron and I split the fries. It was yummy!

Later that night, we headed out to dinner with Ben and Tracy. We always have so much fun that I forget to snap photos :) We had drinks and dinner at Genghis Grill, and the fro yo at Sweet Cici's. It was a fun night :)

Sunday, it was time to put together the love seat we picked up at IKEA a few weeks ago. Yea, we have been super busy playing catchup from our Megacon trip. Which reminds me, I need to blog about it:)

So here is the finished product. Sweet, patient Aron put it together all by himself.

I am pretty stoked at how our living room is coming together. Just a few final touches, and it should be completed.

I also wanted to share our cool photo collage thingie. I like the off center, spiral deisgn.

Well, I am off to enjoy my Friday night! Aron and I are having dinner with friends tonight, then I'm having a girls day with Tracy and Steph tomorrow! Hope y'all have a fab weekend!

Vegas Day 3: Atomic Testing & Cheeseburgers

Yep, I am finally going to finish these Vegas postings!

By now it's no secret Aron and I strayed off the beaten path a bit on our Vegas trip. But I don't want you to think it was all educational! We started Day Three at the Mirage casino.

Me in front of my favorire slot, 1,000,000 Degrees. I won some, and lost more.
Aron at his fave slot, Batman (of course).

Then we moved on to The Atomic Testing Museum. Yeppers! It was an extremely windy day, but I was determined to get in a fashion shoot in front of the museum.
Dress: Forever 21 Plus, Cardigan: Mossimo, Leggings: Mossimo, Boots: Marshal's, Purse: Jessica Simpson Collection, Sunglasses: Target

Ahhh, the wind got the better of me. But, can I tell you how much I love this dress! The color, print, and fit are fab-thanks Forever 21+.

The Atomic Testing Museum was informitive....and disturbing.

Typical office in Mercury, NV, one of the first testing sites in the US

Photographs of testing in Las Vegas in the 1950s
Underground bunker and creepy vintage manequins

After the museum,we stopped by an In-N-Out Burger. This was our first visit to an In-N-Out burger, as there are none nearby us in Tennessee. Can I say I was impressed? I think these would be great drunk eats. But, it was only noon, so we weren't intoxicated as of yet. They were still yummy :)

We tried to visit the Burlesque Hall of Fame, but they were closed for an off site event :( So, we headed on over to the Pawn Stars shop. It was a tourist thing, we just had to go.

Well, there was this line we stood in.

After waiting in line to get inside, we made our way around the store. It seems different than what is portrayed on television. I guess they shut the store down for filming,or only let a few people inside?

We took the scenic route back to the main strip.

Later that night, we headed out to see The Beatles Love Cirque de Soilel at The Mirage. We were lucky enough to see this show back in 2008 on our honeymoon, and we knew we had to see it again. Here is a trailer of the show, but it doesn't really do it justice.

Hope you are all enjoying your week!

Peplum Power!

Hello Again!

I apologize for my long absence. We returned from selling our wares at Megacon early last week, so life has mainly been about playing catchup.

I know I am super late to the Oscars fashion party, but I have to discuss the peplum dresses spotted on the red carpet. My favorite dresses of the night belonged to Michelle Williams and Tina Fey.

Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton

Tina Fey in custom Carolina Herrera

Michelle's dress was jaw dropping in my opinion. I adored the color, the fabric, and the little details of the bow pin and pink clutch. Tina's look was rich and sophisticated, and looked stunning on her. What do both of these dresses have in common? They are both peplum style gowns!

I have never been a fan of peplum styles. I was under the impression that they gave women a bulky, hip-y appearance. I was hesitant about trying out this look, but decided to take the plunge a few weeks ago and try this Torrid skirt. Boy was a wrong about peplum!

Cardigan and Tank: Mossimo
Skirt: Torrid
Flats: Report
Bag: Betseyville
Sweater Clip: Vintage
Necklace & Hair Flower: Lola's Lovelies

I love this skirt immensely! It is flattering, highwaisted, and one where you can tuck in form fitting blouses. But....I must say that I am not proud of the quality of these photos! The only decent one is the first, which Aron took with my IPHONE. I have been saying this for a while now, but I will be investing in a decent camera...soon. I need to save up a bit longer, but it will happen. I've heard the Cannon Rebel is a good one. Any thoughts?

The day I wore this outfit I had lunch with Aron at Chili's. It was an emotionally draining day, but it felt good to get dressed up and spend time with my sweet husband. I also stopped off at Ross for a bit of shopping. I found 2 Betseyville bags, both for a third of the retail price!  I adore roomy, crossybody bags. My other leopard Betseyville has seen better days, so I thought it was time to replace her.

I need to add a disclaimer to my purchase postings. I am a big time bargain shopper, I refuse to pay retail for most things. So it might look like I am breaking the bank at time, but trust me, I am not. Still, I guess I should have put this money towards a new camera, huh?

I hope you are all enjoying your Thursday!
