Social Whirlwind

Hello Again!

The first Saturday in February was a bit of a social whirlwind for me! I knew I'd be out and about for most of the day, so I decided to wear my favorite new outfit.

When I spotted this Wet Seal dress on Kirstin Marie's blog, and knew had to have one for myself! I even picked up this rad little leopard jacket.
Jacket: Wet Seal
Dress: Wet Seal
Leggings: Forever 21 Plus
Bow Flats: Target (old)
Necklace: Lola's Lovelies

My first stop on social-palooza was a rad ladies cookie party in Nashville. We all made cookies for exchanging and tasting. These ladies can bake, and were a blast to hang out with! Sara was an amazing host, and made the yummiest food and drinks.
Later that night, I headed to a Bunco party with Kelly & Hannah. This was my first time playing Bunco, and I had a great time! I was surprised to learn that, because I had the most total Bunco's, that I was the winner for the night! (I rarely won the table, so winning never even crossed my mind!) It was nice to hang out with this rad group of ladies.
Yay for social whirlwinds! It was truly a fun day.

Thanks for stopping by!

Hoodie Weather

Hello Again!

How many if you are loving this Fall weather? Last weekend was a bit chilly, so I took the opportunity to wear my new Torrid hoodie. I'm not much of a jeans kind of girl, but I love these F21 skinnies I snagged for only $13.40! Sometimes, you have to keep it casual and cozy. I sported this look the Sunday of the Nashville Comic and Horror Convention.
Hoodie: Torrid
Shoes: Target (old)
Bag: Betsey Johnson

Here are some snapshots from the con. It was a laid back show, and, as always, we had a great time vending next to our friends at World of Strange. Here is a view of the convention from our booth:
Steph stopped by and bought one of our octopus necklaces. It looks great on her! (as does her World of Strange tee).
I love this ladies sick costume.
Iron Man paid the con a visit.
He was on stilts, so he needed a handler.
Ben shared some if his rad cream soda.

Have a good one!

So I'm 12 Years Old...

Why you ask? Because I had to see the Katy Perry flick, A Part of Me. Thank goodness my buddy Kelly agreed to go with me. I think she is a Katy fan as well, hee hee.

I wanted to wear something fun to the movie, so I chose my Forever 21 polka dot dress.
Bag: Betseyville
Necklace: eBay
Hair Flower: Lola's Lovelies
Shoes: Ross (old)
I think the bathroom mirror photo actually captured my outfit more than the outside photos I had Aron take.
I was even wearing my Katy Perry OPI polish. It wasn't intentional, I promise!
I love my strawberry necklace.

We grabbed a quick bite to eat, then headed over to the theatre. It was empty! It was a Tuesday night, but come on!
Kelly joked that I rented out the theatre for us.
After several attempts, we managed to take this blurry photo.
I really enjoyed the movie. It was an interesting look into the backstage world, and the "real" life of a pop star. There were some heart wrenching moments, especially when they focused on the decline of her marriage to Russell Brand.

A Tropical Heat Wave

Hello Again!

This fashion nugget is from a couple of weeks ago, when Aron and I met up with The Ellers to see Prometheus. It was one of the hottest days on record, the heat topping at about 116 degrees. I decided to wear this tropical print Torrid romper I picked up last year.
Romper: Torrid
Shrug: Ross
Bag:Betsey Johnson
Flip Flops: Yellow Box
Flower and Necklace: Lola's Lovelies
On our way to see the movie, my car started to overheat a bit. So, on the ride there and the ride back, we had to forgo the air conditioning. Did I mention I don't do well with the heat? Hey, at least Prometheus was good, and we got to see Ben and Tracy.

Don't forget to check out our rad Stila Not So Nude Palette Giveaway!

Stay cool y'all!

Beatersville Car & Bike Show

Hello Again!

I hope you are all having a fab week! As promised, here is the last post from our visit in Louisville.

We spent out last day in Louisville at the Beatersville Car and Bike show. I tried my best to dress for the heat, but I failed. But can you really win when it's 95 degrees outside?

 Top: Belks
Skirt and Tank: Forever 21 Plus
Bag: Betsey Johnson
Sunglasses: Target

Here are some rad rides from the show:
After looking at some amazing vehicles, we stopped by the Phoenix Hills Saloon to check out the Pretty Things Peepshow's act.
 Miss Beatersville contestants
I didn't get many good shots of the Peepshow
This little girl was entranced by Go-Go Amy
 Ally Oops
 Heather Holiday

After the show, we wandered around in the heat for a bit, then decided to head back home. Here is some rad horsey art for your viewing pleasure.
We spotted our T-Rex friend on the drive home. He says "Hi".

A Quick Little Fashion Nugget

Hello Again!

I wanted to share a quick fashion nugget with you today. This is one of my favorite silouettes for Summer: a bodycon skirt with a loose (but nipped at the waist) top.
 Top: Pure Energy from Target
Skirt: Forever 21 Plus
Sandals: Old
Hair Flower: Lola's Lovelies
Seashell Necklace: Dragonflies in St Augustine, FL
I've also been doing a sponge roller set I learned in the pinup class I attended. It is a bit of a pain, but I like the way the curls turn out.

I have also become a bit obessessed with MAC cosmetics. I purchased MAC Studio Fix foundation, and I love it. I also bought the perfect coral lipstick shade, Crosswires. Yes, I have finally given into the lure of nice cosmetics. I feel like a grownup now :)

For any that are intereted in how to do a roller set, check out this video. This is part 1 of 3, the actual setting your hair portion.

Thanks for stopping by!

My Favorite Thing: Pinup Girl Style, Part 2

A little while back, I wrote a Favorite Thing post titled Pinup Girl Style which has received quite a few looksies. I thought it would be fun to do a follow up post!

I have had an obsession with retro/vintage style since I was in my teens. All through high school, I was the "odd" girl in the vintage coats & dresses, wide headbands, cats eye eyeliner. My style has evolved a bit over the years, but I am still a huge fan of pinup & rockabilly looks. This is most evident in my selections for my website, Lola-Rocks Clothing. We carry some sweet retro styles, and you can win a $30 credit through out blog giveaway here! Sorry for the shameless plug, but it had to happen :)

Here are some of my favorite pinup styles and inspiration of late:

Tropical and Tiki pinup have been huge fashion inspirations for me lately. Elvgren was such an amazing artist!

I've been hunting for some tropical pieces of clothing, and found then gem at Torrid for half off.

This dress by Pinup Girl Clothing is everything. One day it will be mine.

As always, I am obsessed with leopard.

I had to have this dress from Dorothy Perkins. It is comfortable and chic, I adore it.

At Lola-Rocks, we have this fab Bettie Page purse. It is a classic frame style bag with the traditional leopard print.
I like this pinup look I achieved for day one of the Full Moon Horror and Tattoo Festival.

Here are a couple of ladies in the pinup/rockabilly world who inspire me. First is Michelline Pit, designer for Deadly Dames, makeup artist, and more. I love her hair tutorial videos. I still haven't mastered these techniques, but I'm trying.

Secondly, is Go-Go Amy, founder of the Pretty Things Peepshow. I had the opportunity to see them perform back in 2008, and I'm excited to say I will see them again at the Beatersvlle Car Show in May.

Also, I am going to be taking Go Go Amy's Pinup class at Boudoir Louisville, and I am thrilled! Here is a video of a past class.

So, that does it for Pinup Girl Style Part Deux. Hope you enjoyed!
