Plus Size Maternity Finds

Hello Again!

I know, very long time, no blog. We have been super busy vending at Dragon*Con, and are getting ready to head out to vend at Scarefest in Lexington this weekend. I am over 17 weeks pregnant, and have been feeling pretty well. I can't wait to finish up with this last convention (for a few months) and focus on getting ready for the baby!

I am plus size, and finding cute maternity clothing has been challenging, to say the least. Heck, finding any plus size maternity clothing has been challenging! Frumpy, potato sack styles are the norm in curvy lady maternity wear. I find this very odd-don't many straight size women end up plus size (or close to it ) at some point in their pregnancy? So, why aren't there more options available?

Well, I haven't let it get me down. Honestly, most of my pre-pregnancy dresses are empire waist, and will work for at least the next few months. I also have some cute looser tops that are OK. But it's almost Fall, and I want to shop!

I have managed to find some nice maternity styles online for plus size ladies, but I've had zero luck in stores. Here are a few cute maternity and maternity friendly looks.

The best luck I've had with maternity styles is Old Navy online. They don't carry true plus sizes in maternity, but their size 18 and XXL runs fairly large, and I think many of their styles would accommodate up to a 22W. Here are some of their current looks.
1) Rockstar Denim Jacket-Here's a confession: I bought one of these last year before I was pregnant, and wore the heck out of it. It is a trendy, slightly cropped look for non-pregnant ladies as well.
2) Demi-Ankle Pants-I ordered these last week. Let's hope they look as cute as in the photo.
3) Tie-Waist Tunic- I also ordered this top. I think it will be comfy with leggings.
4) Polka Dot V-Neck Sweater-This sweater is brand new on the website, and I have a feeling it will sell out soon.

On a side note, Old Navy's  Rockstar Demi Panel Skinnies  are the only pair of decent maternity jeans I've found thus far. But, I'm not sure the panel will stretch enough to accommodate the entire 9 months. I am a size 20, and their 18 worked for me.

JC Penny's is another site that has some cool plus maternity looks. I haven't ordered anything as of yet, but these looks are pretty intriguing.
1) 3/4 Sleeve Striped Tie-Side Ruched Top I'm a sucker for stripes, and I love the ruched side.
2) Twill Overbelly Skinny Pants I was surprised to find these fashion forward pants on their website.
3) Cowlneck Cable Sweater Dress A comfortable and cute look for Fall, just pair with leggings.
4) Embellished Top I like the bling around the neckline.

ASOS's maternity line stops at a US 14, but there are some pregnancy friendly options in their ASOS Curve line. I haven't given these a try yet, but I do love their swing dress options.
1) ASOS Curve Exclusive Swing Dress With Lace Sleeves I think this would be perfect for the holidays!
2) ASOS Curve Waterfall Cardigan Perfect layering cardigan for Fall.
3) Alice and You Swing Dress A casual dress to wear with tights.
4) New Look Inspire Leather Look Trim Shell Cute layering tank.

Thanks for checking out my plus size maternity picks! Have a great Friday :)

We're expecting!

Hello Again!

I wanted to stop by and share some great news with my readers. We are having a baby! I am due February 17th, and Aron and I are over the moon.
So far, everything looks great with the baby. I am feeling OK, except for headaches I've been having since last week. Now that I have entered my second trimester, I have a bit more energy and have been trying to eat healthier again.

Thank you for stopping by! I will still be blogging, though I am sure many posts will be more baby-centric :)

A Rare Red Lip Day

Hello Again!

Yep, I am back with another Torrid fashion nugget. It seems like I've been wearing Torrid exclusively this Summer! I hope to continue this trend into the Fall.
Leopard Shrug: Torrid
Dress: Torrid
Necklace: Dragonfly in Saint Augustine
Shoes: Ross (old)
Lipstick: MAC Russian Red

As much as I love the look of red lips, I rarely wear them. I find that no matter what tricks I use when applying, the red fades and needs to be reapplied throughout the day. MAC Russian Red is the best formula I have found, as it takes a few hours before another coat is needed.

This outfit showcases two of my main loves: leopard and the color black. I can't get enough of either. I hoard little leopard cardigans and shrugs like a crazy person.

Hope you are having a good one!

July Ipsy Bag

Hello Again!

Yes, I know we are several days into August! But I wanted to share the goodies I received in my July Ipsy bag.
I've received these Big Sexy Hair Spray products in my Ipsy bags before. They seem to do a decent job at holding my hair in place, but I wish I had received the Soy Renewal Beach Spray instead. I am on a constant search to replace the John Freida Beach Waves spray that was discontinued several years ago. I've had zero luck finding a product that compares. This cult classic sells on eBay for around $50-80 dollars a bottle. THAT'S how fabulous it is. I have no clue why John Frieda stopped discontinued it, or why they refuse bring it back. OK, end of my rant!
I've blogged about my obsession with coral, so it should be no surprise I was happy to receive this punchy color. It is a bit bright, but I tone it down with a bit of neutral lip liner.
Please excuse my potato farmer hands in these photos. I am well overdue for a manicure of some kind!
This BH Cosmetics palette was lovely, if a bit bright for me. I need to figure a way to incorporate that pretty purple eyeshadow into an evening look. Does anyone have any smokey eyeshadow tutorials they would like to share?
I've been a fan of Benetint by Benefit for quite some time. It is a rosey lip and cheey stain, that truly stays on and smells like roses.
This Coola mineral sunscreen was OK, though the coverage seemed a bit too sheer for my taste. It was also a shade too dark for this pasty girl.

Well, that brings to an end my July Ipsy Bag review. I do enjoy receiving these little beauty nuggets every month!

Thanks for stopping by!

Talking Heads

Hello Again,

I thought I'd stop by and wish you all a happy Friday! I've been listening to the Talking Heads on Spotify for the past couple of days. I'm not quite sure what prompted this listening spree. I have always liked the Talking Heads but was never a superfan. After listening to them again, I am struck by the modern, fresh sound of these 80s tracks.

I leave you with Once in A Lifetime. Have a great weekend!

Leopard and Roses

Hello Again!

Lazy blogger is back! This time I'll spare you photos of food, and go straight to an outfit post.
Dress: Torrid
Shrug: Wet Seal
Shoes: Ross (old)
Hair Flower: Lola's Lovelies

This dress has become one of my go to looks for Summer. It is a lightweight fabric, and has an easy, breezy shape. I just throw on a shrug and I am ready to go. At first I thought the pattern was a bit too cray cray for me, but I came to my senses and realized it was perfect.

What have y'all been up to this Summer? I've been a bit of hermit. Our business has kept us busy, and we are still preparing to vend at the big mother-Dragon*Con. We aren't even nearly ready to go, but no big deal, right? It's only 5 weeks away *breaks out in a cold sweat*.

Aside from prepping our stock, we have been enjoying an overabundance of pizza, and watching Fringe from the beginning on Nextflix. Glamourous, no?

I hope Summer is treating you right!

Life Nuggets

Hi Y'all!

I hope you all had a great Fourth of July! We did, and I'll share more on that later.

I've been such a lazy blogger this Summer. We've been busy organizing our stock and getting prepped for Dragon*Con. But, we've managed to sneak in some good times as well. Here are a few life nuggets from this Summer.
I bought this card for Aron's birthday. It made us both very happy!
We met up with The Ellers and Macseks for Aron's birthday dinner at La Tavola.
Ben and Tracy introduced us to La Tavola this Summer, and we are eternally grateful. We decided to have Aron's birthday dinner there. Everyone agreed that my seafood risotto was the best dish at the table. If you are in the area, give La Tavola a try! You won't regret it.
The Macseks and us went in on a co-op with a farmer so that we can get fresh veggies every week. This heirloom cucumber makes me giggle.
Becca and I had an awesome, mid-week pool day.
We met up with Ben and Tracy headed over to Dave and Busters at Opry Mills. That afternoon, I felt like a kid again.

Well, I better get my day started. Tonight is girls night with Steph and Tracy, woo hoo!

Leopard and Lens Flares

Hello Again!

I took a week off from blogging last week to recharge and regroup. I am back with a Fashion Nugget featuring one of my favorite brands, Torrid!
Dress: Torrid
Shrug: Wet Seal
Hair Flower: Lola's Lovelies
Shoes: Ross (3 years old, and still worn on a near daily basis)

This is one of the dresses I picked up at the Torrid grand opening. It is super comfortable, yet cute. I love the neutral leopard print. I'm wearing it with this lightweight shrug I picked up at Wet Seal online. I'm almost embarrassed to admit how much I wear these shoes. I picked them up at Ross 3 years ago, and they just won't die!

I wore this outfit on a matinee movie date with Aron. We went to see Star Trek: Into Darkness. It was an entertaining movie, though I can see how a purist Trekie wouldn't enjoy it. However, I am a sucker for JJ Abrams-lens flares and all!

Hope you all have a great week, thanks for stopping by!

Feeling Dotty

Hello Again!

A few weeks ago, I attended an Origami Owl Party at my friend Kelly's house. I wasn't too familiar with the Origami Owl brand, but after seeing their products, I quickly fell in love. The company specializes in rad "living lockets" with interchangeable faces, charms, and so on. The party was fun, and I spent a bit too much on this rad jewelry :)

I always feel comfortable in a maxi dress, so I wore this polka dot number to the party.
Dress & Shrug: Torrid

I'm a sucker for all things polka dot print. I bought this dress on a Torrid BOGO sale, and though it is pricey, it is comfortable and stylish.

I am off to pack orders, and set up to vend at Hypericon in Nashville. If you are in the area, stop by and say hi! Have a great day!

Florida Continued.....Again

Hello!

Don't forget to enter our Pinup Girl Essentials Giveaway, featuring MAC's Russian Red lipstick!

This is my last Florida post, I promise!

We spent out last 2 days in Florida relaxing in Saint Augustine. On Sunday, we had a quick lunch then took a walk down to the pier. That bird speaks the truth, Vilano Beach is happiness!
Later that day, we headed down to the beach. It was a warm, yet overcast day. Aron and his dad played in the waves, and I took a few videos of the ocean.

Later that night, my mom came by for dinner, then Annie came up to hang out for a while. It is always so good to see family and loved ones!
Little pineapple tree at my in-laws' home.

The last day of a trip home is always bittersweet for me. I'd visited with family and friends, walked on the beach, and even taken a few moments to breathe and relax. It's difficult to leave everyone and go back to the daily grind. But, I realize that we have a good life here in Tennessee, and our Florida friends and family are just a flight away.

Our trip home was much less stressful than our near-miss flight to Florida. There was about an hour and a half delay, so we hung out in the bar for a bit, and I pursed Florida souvenirs in the airport gift shops.
I also picked up one of these bad boys while we were waiting. So wrong, yet ohhh so right.
Until we meet again, Florida....

Florida Continued

Hello Again!

Don't forget to enter our Pinup Girl Essentials Giveaway, featuring MAC's Russian Red lipstick!

As promised, here are a few more Florida adventures to share with you :)

On our second day in Florida, Aron and I headed up to Jacksonville to hang out with my Mom and Mike. I had a great afternoon shopping with Mom, and Aron ran around to local comic book stores.
Mom and I somehow switched bags for this photo :)

Later that night, we grabbed sushi at downtown Jacksonville restaurant. It was great food, but the family next to us was incredibly loud. I mean, "I feel the for the entire restaurant to know our life story" loud. I relaxed a bit after they left, hee hee.

Saturday morning I talked and relaxed with Mom. I miss that time more than anything!

Later that day, Shawna and Misti picked me up at my Mom's house. I miss these girls so much! We have been friends since I was 16 years old, and have been through everything together.

I met Misti's new dogs, Lily and Daisy, then headed over to Shawna's to check out her new place. It is adorable, I want to move in!

We headed over to our favorite place on earth-Target. All I found on this trip were some rad sunglasses.
Note the size of my head in this photo!

After our Target excursion, we headed back to Shawna's for a drink or two. She still had the cake vodka from December 2011, so I partook in a vodka and diet ginger ale cocktail. It was yummy, and the conversation flowed. There is nothing quite like time spent with your best friends, with people you've known for over half your life.

Later that evening, we got gussied up and headed over to Whiskey River at the St. Johns  Towncenter.
Don't we look pretty! My goofy, happy face on the left sums up my mood for the night!
Whisky River is a restaurant/bar that turns into a club in the late evening. After dinner, we ended up sitting at the bar, people watching, and listening to all of the late 90s/early 2000s songs from our club jamming days.

Sunday afternoon, Aron came to pick me up from Shawna's place. There were some tears shed that day for sure! I wish we all still lived close by, but I suppose that's part of growing up.

Just one more Florida post to come, I promise!

Have a good one!

My First Vlog: Spring/Summer 2013 Plus Size Fashion Haul

Hello Again!

I made my first vlog, y'all! Here is a brief Spring/Summer Fashion Haul by yours truly.

Vloging is not an easy task! How do You Tube Bloggers do this on a daily, weekly, even monthly basis?  I found myself tripping over my words, making strange faces, and wanting to set my tripod on fire. That said, I have a few more vloging ideas, so perhaps I will eventually get the hang of it! Subscribe to my You Tube channel here.

Let me know what ya think! Feedback is always appreciated.

Florida

Hello Again!

Earlier this month, Aron and I took a 5 day vacation to Saint Augustine and Jacksonville to visit family and friends. Though I have grown to love Tennessee, Florida's sunshine and beaches are forever in my heart. Ahhhh Florida, I love you :)

We grossly underestimated Nashville's morning traffic and almost missed our flight! But we made it, and that's all that matters.

Once we landed in Jacksonville, we grabbed our rental car and headed over to Saint Augustine to have lunch with Aron's parents. We hit the beach later that afternoon.
Vilano Beach is mostly made up of beautiful coquina shell.
Later that evening, my Mom and her husband Mike met us all in St. Augustine to eat at the famous Osteen's Restaurant. They have the best friend shrimp I have ever eaten.
Day-ummm
Me and Mom
Me and my mother-in-law, Karen
Aron and Andrew

We took more photos outside of Osteens
We made a beer run that night, and Aron let me indulge in a bit of photo taking. Vilano Beach is a magical place...
I'll be back next week with part two of our Florida adventures. Have a great weekend!
