Shawna's Birthday Jam

Hi Again!

It's Monday, yo. I'm currently knee deep in comic book inventory, but a few weeks ago I was having a blast with my best friends.

Late last month, went out to celebrate my best friend Shawna's birthday. August in Florida is scorching hot, so I opted for a dress, loose kimono, and sandals ensemble.
 Kimono: Ross
Dress: Old Torrid
This is before I found a new place to take photos. The mermaid boobs upstaged me every time!
We Ubered to downtown St Augustine, hung out at Scarlett O'Haras,and drank adult beverages.
Fun fact: Shawna and Misti are sisters, and I am best friends with them both. I've known them since I was 16 years old. This only child does have two rad sisters.

Thanks for stopping by!

Cheekwood In Bloom

Hello Again!

Yes, I'm back with another post! I'm surprising myself this week.

Two weekends ago, Aron, Sophie, and I checked out Cheekwood In Bloom. This was our first time visiting Cheekwood, a beautiful botanical garden and art museum located in Nashville.  Cheekwood In Bloom is a Springtime event showcasing the beautiful blooming flowers and trees, along with activities such as outdoor yoga, activities for little ones, and yes, a beer garden. Ahhhhh, the beer garden...

It is no secret that spring is my favorite season, especially here in Tennessee. The dogwood and cherry blossom trees, the tulips, the daffodils all take my breath away. It is a magical time for me.

Attempting to take a scenic photo with a toddler is always good for a laugh.
Cheekwood in bloom is filled with blooming tulips, hyacinths, daffodils, and much more.

Daffodils and ducks.
The views are stunning.
Family time
Sophie contemplating the statue.
As most parent's can attest, "adventures" with toddlers don't always go as planned. Sophie is generally an extroverted child, but is slow to warm up. She spent much of the visit a bit overwhelmed by the "newness" of the place, and the hoards of strangers.

But, by the time we made it to the beer garden, with it's food trucks and jazz music, she was fine. The girl appreciates jazz, I guess.
I managed to take a proper Mommy and Me outfit pose before our adventure:
Me: Dress, cami, leggings: Forever 21 Plus
Shoes: DSW
Sophie: All Target

Until next time!

Full Moon Horror and Tattoo Festival 2015

Hello Again!

Yes, this is my second post in a week! What in the world is going on?

This post is a bit, ummmm, late. Ok, ok it's 3 months late! But I always have such a great time vending at the Full Moon Horror and Tattoo Festival, and I wanted to share that with you.

This year, Full Moon was held over Mother's Day weekend, which is fitting somehow. My buddies Amber and Shelly took turns watching Sophie so I could attend for most of the day on Saturday.

What did I wear? Well, I purchased these to awesome pinup dresses at Torrid last Spring.
1) Torrid Skull Swing Dress 2) Torrid Anchor Polka Dot Swing Dress (sold out)

I feel more comfortable in black, so I chose to wear the skull swing dress.
I love this dress! I need an excuse to wear it again. I haven't worn the red one...yet.

It was a fun day! It was good to get out of the house, see friends, hang out with my Aron and sell our wares.
I spotted a bunch of cool tattoos...
....and some rad costumes. I wish I had taken more photos! It was a great show, as always.
I'm enjoying these lunch time blog sessions. Next time, that entertainment post I promised. Back to work for me!

Thanks for stopping by!

Yep, it's me again.

I doubt anyone out there is still reading this little blog o' mine, but the desire to blog has been strong as of late. It's almost as strong as when I first started What Lola Wants, when blogging was FUN. So I figure, maybe I'll give this another go!

First up, my Little Pumpkin. Sophie is now almost 19 months old...what? Wait, how did that happen? I blink and she's rolling over, blink again and she's crawling, then sitting up, and now walking..well running actually.

Here are some pics from her first birthday way back in January...
In March, Sophie started a Mother's Day Out program that we all loved. Twice a week I would drop her off in the morning and come back and get her in the early afternoon. My heart broke as she cried, but I knew it was good for her to socialize, and for me to have a bit of time to work and have some "me" time.

Sophie is growing up to be a smart, strong, beautiful little toddler. She loves being outside, bananas, and our kitty, Sebastian. She can be a Tiny Terror at times, but she really is an amazing little girl.

Speaking of amazing, can I brag for a moment on what a great Dad Aron is? He is patient, loving, and so much fun. Sophie truly is Dada's girl.

We had some family photos taken this May. I won't bore you with a billion of them, I'll just share my faves...
 I've spent all Summer with Sophie, which is awesome, and exhausting. I haven't had much time for fashion, books, or me in general. I did manage to sneak away for a few lunches girl's nights with my buddies :)
I've been on a kimono kick lately. It seems that, right before Fall arrives, I'm enamoured with boho or witchy looks. I like taking a break from my 40s/50's inspired retro looks.
Hopefully, my future outfit photos will be a bit nicer than a bathroom mirror selfie, with bras hanging on the doorknob!

I think my next blog will be entertainment based. I've watched some amazing movies and TV shows lately (Kimmy Schmidt, yea!). I leave you with an image from last years Dragon Con preparation. We are working on this day and night. Actually, I should go do that now!
Thank you for stopping by!

Sophie's First Halloween

Hello Again!

I can't believe it, I am blogging again in less than a week! My Little Pumpkin has a cold and is napping, so I thought I'd write a quick post and share her First Halloween with you.

We knew, almost immediately, that we wanted Sophie to be Wonder Woman for Halloween. She really is our little superhero!
We decided not to dress up this year, and make it all about Sophie. Now that I think about it, it's been years since I dressed up. ! Next year we might do a family superhero theme. I wore my Halloween shirt, the same one I've worn for the past few years!
Amber came over to Trick-or-Treat with us, and she also brought Sophie the sweetest little Halloween basket filled with treats and clothing!
Amber took a few family photos of us and our Wonder Woman.
We headed out to do a bit of Trick-Or Treating. We knew that it would not be a lengthy excursion; it was dipping down into the 40s and it was quite windy. Wonder Woman had to wear her bear coat :)
We stopped by our neighbor's home, and Sophie had a case of stranger anxiety. After Aron took her out of her stroller and held her, she was fine at the next couple of homes. But, the wind picked up and we headed home.

We had Boboli pizza and the pumpkin bread I had made earlier that day....and candy, of course. Shelly joined us later, and we put Sophie to bed, Later, we half talked/half watched a pseudo-scary flick, The House at the End of the Street. It was great to hang out with friends and my sweet hubby :)

That's Sophie's First Halloween! I truly love the Fall, and Halloween is one of my favorite holidays.

Life Nuggets: Fall Edition

Hello Again!

I had grand plans of weekly Mommy and Me outfit posts, but those haven't exactly panned out. Heck, blogging hasn't been happening much at all! But, I've decided that my roles as Mommy, Wife, and small business owner aren't going to allow for regular blogging. I've decided to blog how I wish (and when I am able), and not to stress too much about it. So, I thought I'd share what my Fall has been like thus far; friends and fam, books, fashion, and all of those fun little Life Nuggets.

//Family and Friend time//

Our little Sophie is doing great! It is hard to believe that, on the 29th of October, she turned 9 months old! She is saying Ga-Ga, Ba-ba, Da-da, Ma-ma, and a million other noises and combinations. She hates to sit up, but can now do so. She likes to pull herself across the floor, and crawl backwards. She is amazing!

I'm so excited to share in all the Fall seasonal activities with my little one. We took her to the Walden Farm pumpkin patch a few weeks ago, we all had a blast. Well, I think Aron and I had more fun than little Sophs :)
We've also had fun with friends this month. Here are a couple of pics from Amber's birthday lunch:

//Reads//

I'm one of those who was late to the Gone Girl party, but man am I glad I showed up! It took me about a week to get through this novel (baby and businesses and all), but I was determined to finish it before I saw the film. Gone Girl is both incredibly exciting and disturbing, and now I have to get my hands on all of Gillian Flynn's novels.

//Movies//

Gone girl wins again! I love David Fincher films, and he did not disappoint with this adaptation.

Shelly, Amber, Michelle and I went to see the film and made a girl's afternoon of it. Amber, Shelly, and I stopped by Chili's afterwards.
//Music//

Aside from the constant tunes of Sophie's Baby Einstein toys, I haven't been listening to music too much lately. One exception  is Lana Del Rey, and her album Ultraviolence. I know many people dislike Lana, and I used to be one of them, but once I listened to her music I was hooked.

//Wears//

I've always been a dress, cardigan, and leggings kind of girl, but since I had Sophie, I find skinny jeans, tops or sweaters, and flats work better for me. I'm shocked to find myself writing this!
I do still love my dresses, and have a nice collection of them, but they are no longer my go tos. I still make myself wear one every once in a while :)

Here are some of my favorites from this fall:

 1// Torrid Kiss V-Neck Sweater
2// Torrid Animal Print Sweatshirt
3// Forever 21 Plus Everyday Skinny Jeans

I absolutely love these two tops from Torrid. They are comfortable and always make me feel sassy. The jeans are only $9.90, and while I am trying not to support F21 too much, I can't really beat the price and fit. I'm one of those weirdos who hate any kind of fading or streaking on jeans, so the indigo works perfectly for me.

I still like to keep a little glamour to my look, so I've been obsessed with last years Torrid Cheetah coat.
Well, that is it for my Fall Life Nuggets roundup. I am off to work on a past due post about Sophie's First Halloween! Stay tuned...

Thanks for stopping by!
