Shawna and Misti's Visit Part Two

Here are more good times from Shawna and Misti's visit to Tennessee!

On their second day in town, we all headed to Kustom Thrills Tattoos to get inked! I had been chatting with the tattoo artist Nathan for about a week, so we all had a good idea of what designs we were getting. I planned on getting cherries on the back of each leg, Shawna wanted a fairy, and Misti wanted a butterfly.

We met up with Nathan at the shop around 3, and began discussing our designs. Shawna's fairy needed to be larger so it wouldn't form into a blob over the years. Misti's butterfly needed more of an outline, and plenty of "sparkles" at her request. My cherries were good to go!

I was impressed by Nathan's professionalism and friendliness. The shop has a rad feel to it, and an impressive Rat Fink collection.
 Johnny Cash stained glass.
 Coop print
We waited on the leopard couch while Nathan sketched out our designs.
Here I am, unsuspecting and sweet. I had no idea of the agony that would follow.
Well, I had a bit of an idea, since I already have a few small pieces. I think it was the location of the cherries that killed me, right on the tendons. Ouch. I spent an hour holding Shawna's hand.
Here is the finished product . I am very happy with them! I went larger than I thought I would, but I'm glad I did.
Shawna initially wanted a fairy on her hip. But because the tattoo needed to be larger, she decided to place it on her upper back. It is so beautiful!
Here is Misti, with her peaceful, smiling face. Her tattoo just about killed her as well. Is our pain tolerance diminishing as we get older?
Here is her gorgeous, "sparkling" butterfly!
We were at the tattoo shop from 3-9pm, a bit longer than we anticipated. The plan was for us to drive back to my house after the tattoos, and Aron would drive us back to Nashville so we could explore 2nd Ave and party a bit. By the time we got home, it was late, so we just went out to Old Chicago Pizza and had a few cocktails there.

On Saturday, we stopped by Toots for a few drinks and fried pickles :) I kept reminding us that we needed a group pick of all three of us, which is something we usually forget to do. So, I had Aron snap a few photos of us that afternoon.
Their last night in town, we had a joint birthday celebration for Becca, Shawna, and myself. We headed to Camino Real for dinner, then back to our house for cake and booze. Tracy made a super yummy Snickerdoodle cake. It was awweessoommmeee!
We all overslept Sunday morning, but we made it to the airport just in time. Saying goodbye to your best friends after a rad weekend is just awful. But I am looking forward to next time!

Shawna & Misti's Visit Part One

My best friends, Shawna and Misti, flew in from Florida last week for a visit. I was so very excited to see these ladies, for in the past 20 years of our friendship, they have become like sisters to me. Here is a rundown of some of the good times.

On their first day in town, we relaxed, chatted, and had drinks at O'Charley's and Chili's. O'Charley's amazing Strawberry Skyy Lemonade quickly became our favorite cocktail.
After cocktail hour, we went to Publix to purchase snacks, and Misti and I found matching Halloween Barbies!
We chilled out that night, got pizza, and watched bad reality TV. Am I gettting old or what?

Part two of their visit coming soon!

Woodland Creatures Part Deux

Hello Again!

A while back, I shared a few photos of the woodland creatures that visit our backyard. Can you handle all the cuteness of a follow up post? I hope so, because here we go :)

Aron and I like to look for bunny rabbits on our morning walks. There are a ton of bunnies that live in the woods behind our neighborhood, so we usually spot at least one or two. We ran into this little saucer-eyed fellow one morning.
We like to leave our stale bread outside for the birds to snack on. This little dude decided the bread was fair game, and ate his fill. I apologize for the crappy photo quality.
I caught this guy strutting around our backyard one day. Turkeys are strangely cute.
A family of deer like to hang out on the hill behind our house. Once they catch me oooing and ahhhhing over them, they make a run for the woods.

I hope you survived the cuteness.

Have a good one!

Fall Fashion Inspiration: Lana Del Rey for H&M

Hello Again!

How many of you are obsessed with the Lana Del Rey for H&M Fall campaign, and with Lana in general? I must admit, I was a bit of a Lana hater a few month ago. I openly mocked her SNL performance, and dismissed her music as drivel. Well, I suppose I drank the Lana Kool-Aid, because I am now simply in love with her style and her sultry voice.

I gasped with joy when I saw her ad spots for the Fall H&M collection. I am obsessed with the early 60s vibe, and love the David Lynch/Twin Peaks references of the "Blue Velvet" TV spot. Here are some images from the collection:
All images courtesy of H&M.

There is no H&M near me that I know of, and H&M still hasn't launched their online shopping for the US. So, I've basically given up any hope of owning this collection (the prices on eBay are insane). Not that I could have actually fit into any of these looks, since this line stops at an XL, and I am a 2X. But, I am sure I would have tried to rock the angora sweaters regardless.

Oh, and if anyone knows of a good bouffant hair tutorial for this look, please pass it my way!

Here is Lana in the TV spot singing Blue Velvet.

....and here is Lana singing Video Games, the song I mocked so harshly, but now love.

Shower Attire

Hello Again!

Here is a quick little fashion nugget for your viewing pleasure. I wore this Torrid dress and cardigan to my friend Becca's bridal shower a few weeks ago. The dress has some odd seaming at the bust, so it needed the coverage of the cropped cardigan.
Cardigan and dress: Torrid
Shoes: TJMaxx
Sunnies: Target

The shower was fun! We made a fabulous toilet paper wedding dress and watched the bride to be open her fab pressies.
Have a good one!
