Hello Again!
I am still knee deep in Dragon*Con prep work, but I wanted to share Lola-Rocks Clothing's first original design!
The gorgeous artwork is by Mitch Foust, and the fab printing by World Of Strange. I couldn't be happier with the results! If you'd like to purchase one of these lovely tees, click here.
This design will debut at Dragon*Con at the Twisted Heroes booth, #1407, in the Imperial Ballroom at the Marriott Marquis Atlanta (just in case you'd like to say howdy).
Ok, onto the giveaway winner.....it is
Jill from Jilly BeansTALK!
I'll be sending you an email shortly! Thank you to everyone who entered, and stay tuned for more fun giveaways this Fall!

Keeping It Real
Inspired by the daunting task of preparing to vend at DragonCon, I wanted to share a typical day in the life of Adrienne.
While I like to share cute fashion nuggets and jammin' good times with my readers, my everyday life is a bit less glamorous. I spend a good 10-12 hours a day working on our businesses, Twisted Heroes & Lola-Rocks Clothing. I work hard, but I love what I do. Here is a rundown of a typical day.
I wake up early and walk a mile or two with Aron. If we are lucky, we spot one of these little guys on our excursion.
I come home and tidy up a bit, and see Aron off to work. Then I have a glass of this nectar and some toast. I am officially addicted to caffeine. Bleh.
Since eBay requires their top rated sellers to ship next day, I spend the first half of my day shipping eBay orders, as well as Amazon and website.
This is the look I rock most days. I slap on a bit of beauty balm, powder, and lipgloss. Oh yea, and my glasses that I have to wear ALL the time now.
After I'm done with shipping, I spend the rest of the afternoon on the computer, listing items on eBay and our websites, or sorting clothing and books.
Sometimes you run a across a comic that just makes your day...
I mean, it doesn't get much better than this. I Instagramed it and everything :)
That is about it for a typical workday. When you are preparing to vend at comic conventions, things are anything but typical.
There's much book sorting...

Shipping isn't fun, but it's not like we could train the cats to do it. Or could we?
Nevermind.

Feeling a Bit Squirrely
Hello Again!
I usually shoot outfit photos in my backyard, mainly out of pure laziness. But once in a while you run into a location so stellar, I have to make an exception. I love this little guy!

My friend was just hanging out at our local Japanese restaurant Who knew?
Top: American Rag
Skirt: Torrid
Bag: Betseyville
Shoes: Peebles (old)
I tried the Bento box, and it was way too much fried tempura goodness, which I tried to pawn off on Aron. Only 2 more days to enter our Essie giveaway!

My Go-To
Hello Again!
How many of you have a closet full of clothing, and continuously wear the same three outfits? I am guilty as charged. The below outfit has become my go-to. I wear this Torrid denim skirt at least twice a week. The top I picked up at Target a few months ago, and have been wearing it nonstop all Summer.
Aron took these photos a couple of Sundays ago. I think it's cute how you can see his reflection in the window.

We headed over to our local Panera for a breakfast sandwich, but we just missed the breakfast cutoff. Don't you hate that? I ended up ordering a veggie sandwich, Aron had a chicken panini which he wasn't too crazy about. So I shared some of my veggie :)
I also had to partake in the Chai Iced Tea.

A Series of Outtakes
Hello Again!
This "photoshoot" turned into one big outtake. From the weird lighting and wind, to my flip flops, scowl, and mad hair, it just wasn't working. I ended up using Instagram to liven up the color tone of the photos a bit.
Life isn't perfect, and in that spirit, here are a few images of imperfection.

Scowl
Crazy hair
Horrid lighting
Dress: Forever 21 Plus (old and shrunken, layered with a cotton slip)
After picture time, Aron and I stopped by Kohl's to pick up some clothing for him. I swear, he will wear his work clothes until they are threadbare. It's really very cute.
As he tried on clothing, I wandered around the store. I was excited to see all the Fall decor on display. Is it just me, or are you done with Summer once August hits? I am already dreaming of Fall clothing and crisp, gorgeous weather.
I wandered over to the shoe section, and was in awe of how beautiful Jennifer Lopez is. She just doesn't age!
There were some great shoes on sale, but I really don't do heels. That didn't stop me from taking photos of these works of art.
Hello Kitty watches-yes please!
I hope I entertained you with my random ramblings. I've been super busy getting us ready vend at DragonCon this year. I might not post quite as much in the upcoming weeks, but I will do my best!

My Favorite Thing: Sassy Magazine
This Monday, I want to share with you something very near and dear to my heart- Sassy Magazine circa 1988-1994.
I spent most of the late 80s and early 90s a shy, overly sensitive, awkward girl. I was a far cry from homecoming queen, or a popular kid. Sassy helped me to embrace, and even celebrate, my "oddness". It opened my eyes to the the alternative subculture, and introduced me to an entire new genre of music, movies, literature, and fashion.
Looking back, I am surprised that Sassy magazine existed at all. It was a girl-power, alt culture, feminist magazine aimed at teens and young women. Sassy was an inclusive voice in an exclusive world. All shapes and sizes, races, and sexual preferences were welcome to read, it did not discriminate. Also, the writers at Sassy had a wicked sense of humour :)
Sassy has a major cult following, from teen fashion blogger Tavi Gevinson (who has created a "modern day" Sassy in Rookie), to multiple badass Tumblr blogs that pay homage to the magazine. It makes me happy that a new generation of young women have discovered Sassy, and the independent mindset in encapsulates.
Here are some random Sassy covers and nuggets to share. As you can see, Sassy was not all seriousness and politics. It was quite a fun read as well :)

I've noticed many bloggers reminiscing fondly of the 1990s. Many of these posts are laced with Saved by The Bell and Backstreet Boys references. While I'm totally cool with that, the 90's to me are more about this:
If asked what pop culture image represents the 90s, for me it would be this cover of Sassy. It is everything :)
What has shaped me to be who I am today? First and foremost, my Mom who raised me on her own, and taught me how to be an independant lady. Secondly, it would be Sassy Magazine.
Thanks for stopping by!

Modern Pinup & Miche Purse Party
Hello Again!
I recently attended a Miche Purse Party at my friend Kelly's home. It was a fun time, and I snagged a pretty, yet functional, wallet.
I wanted a stylish, comfortable look for the party, so I wore my favorite Forever 21 Plus Maxi Dress and Torrid Shrug. I like that this book is easy-breezy, but it also has a modern pinup vibe:
I was undecided on a purse, so I ordered this rad wallet instead of going home empty handed. I like this wallet more than I thought I would! I has tons of room for all of my cards, and a magnetic closure. I love the color and patent leather finish.
Thanks for stopping by!

My July Birchbox
Hello Again!
Yes, I am a bit late with this subscription box review, since it is now August.
How many of you ladies subscribe to Birchbox's monthly beauty box? I started receiving mine back in May. Honestly, I wasn't that impressed with my first two boxes. The choices were interesting, but some of the items seemed a bit random to me (blue glitter eyeliner anyone?).
I decided to give the monthly subscription one more go, and I am glad that I did! Here is what I received:
Birchbox partnered with Glamour magazine this time around. The theme for July was our five senses, and using them to fully experience Summer.
I received:
1) Larabar Uber Nut Roll.-I found this roll to be super yummy and filling.
2) Jouer Luminizing Moisture Tint-I tried a bit on my skin, I like the clean feeling and light coverage.
3)Oscar De La Renta Live in Love perfume sample-Not really my kind of scent, but not bad.
4) Bamboo UV Fade Proof Fluid-I can't wait to try this on my ever-fading red hair.
5)A pair of Glamour ear buds-Very cute and useful.
6) I also received this Stila lip glaze that I forgot to include in the pic. It is a great neutral color!
In my opinion, I feel like Birchbox is a good deal for the $10 monthly subscription fee. You receive quality, name brand products (occasionally they are even full size). Overall, I am happy with this Birchbox and will continue on with my subscription. For you Birchbox subscribers, how do you like the boxes thus far? Does anyone subscribe to Glossybox?

Friday Faves
Hello Again!
I wanted to share some random nuggets of joy from my week.
One glass of this nectar, and I am ready to roll. I was never much of a coffee drinker, but I now realize that it's actually hot beverages I don't care for, not coffee itself. The more you know.....
Aron and I are glued to this show every Sunday evening. It is the only reason we still have HBO.
That and this...TV characters don't get much better than Russell Edgington.
I discovered this on Kaelah's blog this week, and it really made me happy. I stand with Kermy on this one.
This song has been in my head ALL WEEK. Very random, no? I loved this song when it came out back in '03 (I was a mere 26 years old, wow), and I still love it today. Andre 3000's smile is infectious, and the beat makes me want to shake it, shake it.....well, you get the idea.
Hope you all have a great weekend. I'll be announcing the giveaway winner soon :)
