I have never been one to be fingernail obsessed. I was a chronic nail biter most of my life, but over the past few weeks I have decided to break the habit. I am determined to grow my nails out to at least the tips of my fingers. My nails will have to be the "sporty" length, since they have a tendency to break anyways.
I have been browsing around for nail polish shades, and ran across the Katy Perry collection for OPI. Katy Perry has been a fashion inspiration to me lately. I love her edgy/pin-up/pop princess style.
I purchased the shade The One That Got Away, and I loooovvee it (it's the center color in the above photo). It reminds me of Dorothy's ruby slippers. It is a pinky-red with a subtle frosty glitter. Here's a picture of it on my nails:
I am digging the OPI nail polish so far. It seems to resist chipping, and the colors are vibrant.
I tried the black OPI shatter over this color, but I wasn't feeling it. It just looked like a streaky black mess on my nails, not the shattered mirror effect it is supposed to give. I might be using too much though :)
So, I went ahead and purchased 2 more Katy Perry colors (from eBay of course): the greenish Not Like The Movies and pink glitter Teenage Dream. I have a feeling these lighter colors might work better with the Shatter
Hope you all had a fabulous day!

cool I love nail polish and used it tons in High School. I just buy the cheep stuff though.
ReplyDeleteeverytime i went to buy the shatter, it was sold out. i really wanted it too! i keep my nails short, mostly because i hate the feeling of any kind of nail, but they don't look short on me because i have long nail beds. it works out for me then, haha.
ReplyDelete@Melissa-I still love the cheap stuff :)
ReplyDelete@Jill-I have tiny nail beds, so I have to grow some sort of nail, lol
I love this color!!! I remember when that shatter type polish was around maybe 10 years ago? I wore it all the time. I was really excited when it acme out again. This looks great on your nails. And your ring is stunning, btw.
ReplyDeleteThank you Kirstin! I am going to try the shatter again, I don't think I am using it correctly, lol
