Farmers' Market Fun

Hello Again!

Aron and I headed down to the local farmers' market last weekend to purchase some local yummies. I was feeling a boho vibe that day, so I broke out my Torrid chrochet shrug. Wheeee!

Crochet Tank & Skirt: Torrid
Top: Old Navy
Shoes: Ross (old)
Necklace: Pamela Love

The sky looked ominous, but we managed to get some goodies!
Some rad local honey
 Yummy tomatoes
Bacon! The seller told us there was no meat in these. I think he was messing with us.
After the farmers market, Aron headed to The Great Escape to dig through comics. I headed over to Walmart for a snack, and spotted this yumminess. I didn't buy one, but I was tempted.
I spotted this at The Great Escape. It hurt my heart a bit to realize I was 19 when this movie came out. The soundtrack is epic.

Influenster Summer Beauty VoxBox

Hello Again!

I was lucky enough to receive one of Influenster's Summer Beauty VoxBox filled with rad products to review. Here's a breakdown of what I received, and how they worked for me.
Quaker Soft Baked Bar: This bar was super yummy and filling. The only thing I was not jazzed about was that it contained High Fructose Corn syrup, which I try to avoid.
Clear Scalp & Hair Therapy: This shampoo/conditioner is focuses on the health of your scalp for overall hair health. It left my hair smooth, but seemed to weigh it down a bit.
Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Lotion Sunscreen: This was one of my fave products in the VoxBox. I used it on a recent pool day, and it worked great. It stayed on (even in the pool), protected my skin from the sun, while leaving it soft and smooth.
Sally Hansen Magnetic Nail Color: I haven't had a chance to use this cool product yet, but I can't wait to give it a try.
Sally Hansen Nails and Cuticles Hand Creme: I work with paper and books all day, and my hands and nails suffer greatly from it. This cream is thick and rich, and does the trick.
Always Tampax Radiant: Thse did the job and came in a cute bag. Enough said.

Thank you to Influenster for sending me these cool products to review! For more information, or to sign up to receive your own VoxBox, click here.

I received these complimentary products for testing purposes from Influenster. The opinions are my own :)

So I'm 12 Years Old...

Why you ask? Because I had to see the Katy Perry flick, A Part of Me. Thank goodness my buddy Kelly agreed to go with me. I think she is a Katy fan as well, hee hee.

I wanted to wear something fun to the movie, so I chose my Forever 21 polka dot dress.
Bag: Betseyville
Necklace: eBay
Hair Flower: Lola's Lovelies
Shoes: Ross (old)
I think the bathroom mirror photo actually captured my outfit more than the outside photos I had Aron take.
I was even wearing my Katy Perry OPI polish. It wasn't intentional, I promise!
I love my strawberry necklace.

We grabbed a quick bite to eat, then headed over to the theatre. It was empty! It was a Tuesday night, but come on!
Kelly joked that I rented out the theatre for us.
After several attempts, we managed to take this blurry photo.
I really enjoyed the movie. It was an interesting look into the backstage world, and the "real" life of a pop star. There were some heart wrenching moments, especially when they focused on the decline of her marriage to Russell Brand.

Birdcages and Kitty Cats

Hello Again!

Last week I had lunch with one of my favorite people, the fabulous Tracy. I wore one of my new ASOS Curve clearance purchases: a birdcage print dress that I paired with a Torrid shrug. I also carried my Betsey Johnson bag that I am sure you are sick of seeing by now.
Bag: Betsey Johnson
Shoes: TJ Maxx

We had lunch at Chili's, then went next door to PetSmart to look at the kitties....errmmmm...buy pet supplies.
I wasn't aware of the cool adoption program that PetSmart has with a local cat rescue organization, Twisted Whiskers. Many of these kitties were rescued from kill shelters. I have a soft spot in my heart for all animals, and I wanted to take them all home...and so did Tracy.
 Tabitha chillin'

Tracy found these beauties on the shelf- I mean... really?

Have a fabulous day!

My Favorite Thing: Betsey Johnson Bags

Hello Again!

By now, most of us fashion lovers know that Betsey Johnson filed for bankruptcy back in April. This news broke my heart for both Betsey's employees and for Betsey herself, as I am a long time fan of her clothing and accessories.

Betsey is such a fun, funky, and hopeful presence in the fashion world, that many fashion insiders look for her company to make a comeback. The Betsey Johnson line is still sold in select department stores and online retailers (such as Nordstom, Dillard's, and Zappos), and I hope this is enough to keep her brand alive for the time being.

I took a look at the current Betsey Johnson line styles available, and found some cute things. (I mostly collect her bags, so that's what I had my eye one while writing this post.)

I no longer can find any info on her less expensive and funkier accessories line, Betseyville. I see a few pieces for sale here and there online, but it looks like the retailers are clearing out the merchandise. Hopefully Betseyville will be resurrected again in the very near future.

I wanted to share some of my Betseyville/Betsey Johnson bag collection. Warning-I love purses more than your average woman.

Have a great week!

No usual post today

I am going to have a day of silence here on the blog, to remember all those that lost their lives and were injured in the Colorado tragedy. I send my thoughts, prayers, and love to all of the victims and their families.

Magic Mike Night

Hello Again!

A few weeks ago (yes, I am that behind on posts!), my Meetup group headed out for dinner and to check out the male stripper flick, Magic Mike. Here's what I wore:
Bird Print Dress: Forever 21 PLus
Shoes: TJ Maxx
Necklace: Lola's Lovlies
Sunglasses: Target

I purchased this online from Forever 21 a few months ago. It is very cute and comfortable, but the sheer arms and upper bust are a bit low on me, so I have to wear a little camisole underneath. Aside from that, it is the perfect lightweight Summer dress.

Me and the ladies met up at Camino Real for some margaritas and a quick bite to eat before the movie. I had the grilled shrimp and rice and it was awesome! I wish I had taken a photo of my dish :)

We headed over to the theater after dinner, and it was packed.....with ladies! It was a Tuesday night, so I was a bit surprised. We sat in a row with some some older chicas getting their party on! I really dug the fun atmosphere.

I asked a nice lady to snap a picture of us. It didn't really turn out, but you get the idea.
As far as Magic Mike goes, I am generally not into male stripper, eye candy kind off stuff. I've seen some male stripper shows back in my youth, and they were super cheesy.

But I was pleasantly surprised by Magic Mike. Yes, there was eye candy (helllloo Joe Manganiello from True Blood!), but there was a bit of a plot (shocking!), and the acting and directing were well done. On a random note, the story took place in Tampa, Florida, so it made me a a bit homesick for my home state.

I think Channing Tatum's dancing was the star of the movie. His movements were so frickin' fluid, it was insane!

Here's the trailer. Ladies, do yourselves a favor and check this one out!

A Tropical Heat Wave

Hello Again!

This fashion nugget is from a couple of weeks ago, when Aron and I met up with The Ellers to see Prometheus. It was one of the hottest days on record, the heat topping at about 116 degrees. I decided to wear this tropical print Torrid romper I picked up last year.
Romper: Torrid
Shrug: Ross
Bag:Betsey Johnson
Flip Flops: Yellow Box
Flower and Necklace: Lola's Lovelies
On our way to see the movie, my car started to overheat a bit. So, on the ride there and the ride back, we had to forgo the air conditioning. Did I mention I don't do well with the heat? Hey, at least Prometheus was good, and we got to see Ben and Tracy.

My Favorite Thing: An Ode to The Maxi Dress

Oh maxi dress, how I adore thee...

Like so many fashion bloggers, I have become a bit obssessed with the maxi dress trend this year. While I usually prefer my dresses around knee length, I must say that a full length dress is super comfortable in the summertime.

My only gripe is that designers tend to make maxi dresses strapless, and for my chest size, that generally doesn't work. Would it kill the deisgners to throw me a little sleeve now and then?

Here is a rundown of some of my favorite maxi dresses. The first two I own, the rest are just a dream.

(available at Lola-Rocks Clothing)

So how are you guys liking the maxi dress trend this year? Yay or nay?

Thanks for stopping by!
