Fashion Nugget of the Day: Evans Review Part 1

I received my first Evans order in the mail yesterday, whoo hooo! 2 of the items worked for me, the other two pieces were a bit big/boxy.
Since is colder than a mutha outside, I decided to make the Ombre Knit Cardigan Coat the first item to review.

Sweater Coat: Evans
Top:
Merona
Bandage Skirt:
Pure Energy
Leggings:
Lola-Rocks Clothing
Shoes:
Reaction Kenneth Cole
Silver Shards Necklace:
Evans

Overall, I was very happy with my Evans order, especially this item. You can see the quality in Evans' clothing right away: nice fabric, cuts, and fit. This sweater is a bit long for me proportion-wise, so I paired it with heels. We'll see how long I keep the heels on before I switch to boots!

The coat is a bit overpowering for someone my height (5'5), but I think it is workable. You just have to have the confidence to rock it.

I also loooovved the silver shards necklace, very cute.

Later this week I will review the Evans Leaf Print Minidress. I tried this one on the minute it came in, and I fell in love with it. I might rock it for our New Years Eve bonfire party we are going to.

Hope you all have a fabulous day!

Happy Christmas Times

The past few days have been a holiday whirlwind, and I thought I would share some of the good times with you all :)

Aron and I woke up around 7ish, and proceeded to rip open our presents (Aron did insist on coffee first of course).

My big surprise for him was a piece of art by Ben Templesmith and Karen Zachary Wang. It was auctioned on eBay by the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, and is from the MTV Geek live event at New York Comic Con. Aron loves it, and that makes me very happy :)

My gifts from Aron were several fab books (Amy Sedaris: Crafts for Poor People, Giada's Everyday Italian, and Sex and the City 2 Movie Book). I also received my Hello Kitty Snuggie set and a fab gift certificate to an spa, plus tons of other stuff. He went a bit nuts this year!

I wore a comfy outfit for Christmas

Old Navy Sweater, Torrid Mini, Mossimo Leggings, and Target Fake Uggs
The sweater is Old Navy and is Misses sizing. It is a "boyfriend cut" and is a little boxy for my curves, but I still love it.

Ben and Tracy came over later to exchange gifts and go see True Grit (which was fab by the way). They loved their books and we loved the T-shirts they made us! Check out their t-shirt company,
World of Strange. It was fun to spend Christmas afternoon with the Ellers :)

Aron and I made fig jam and brie/goat cheese crostinis.

It was rumored that Nashville would have a white Christmas (for the first time in years). The predictions were mostly true, as the majority of the snow began late Christmas evening. Here are some pictures I snapped the day after Christmas...

The snow was cool, but was ill timed, since we wanted to go see the Hobbs the day after Christmas, and us Florida people don't drive much in the snow and ice.

Time to play holiday eBay/website catchup. I hope everyone's holidays have been as fabulous as ours :)

I Don't Want A Lot for Christmas......

.......just this fab faux fur coat I found on ASOS clearance tonight!

I have a love affair with coats, jackets, and faux fur, so this coat is pretty much it for me. I also love the styling of these photographs; the vintage-style dress, tights, and booties...sigh..... I must resist (at least for now)! What are you coveting this holiday season?
Oh well, back to sorting through the mountains of business receipts. Tax time is just around the corner, oh joy!
Happy Holidays!

Christmas Party Part Deux

Good Morning Peeps,

Last Friday Aron and I attended his company Christmas party. This is our second Christmas party of the year; the first one was a rad
shindig that we threw a couple of weeks ago.

Office party attire can be tricky. Not too much cleavage, not too short, not too sheer......Though it is not my office, I didn't want to commit any fashion faux pas at my hubby's party. So this is what I went with:

Dress: ASOS

Cardigan: Mossimo

Leggings: Lola-Rocks Clothing

Cami: Old Navy

Necklace and Boots: ebay

I purchased the dress on clearance at ASOS last summer, and hadn't had a chance to wear it. It is completely sheer, but I layered with opaque leggings and a cami, so it worked (I think). I also added my Mossimo cardigan, fave boots, and brass locket necklace I snagged off of ebay. As you can see, the tripod and I are becoming slightly better friends :)

The party itself was relaxed and fun, and I had the chance to meet some of Aron's sweet co-workers. After the party, we headed to The Boro to meet Ben and Tracy to see Spike and Mallets perform. Good times were had, and it was a great show.

Off to pack up last minute Christmas orders!

50% off of Evans Clearance!

Hello Peeps,

I wanted to let you know that
Evans is currently having an extra 50% off sale on their clearance through Sunday! Evans is based out of the UK, and carries many on-trend plus size items. I have never ordered from them before, but was curious to try them out now that the price is right. Here are the items I picked up....

I am super excited about the first item, the leaf print mini dress. I will post when the items come in and let y'all know how it goes!
The shipping for Evans is pretty reasonable, a little over $7 for all my items.
Hope everyone is having a fab Friday!

Fashion Inspiration: Jenny from Love Story

Good Morning Peeps,

I was musing on what looks have me inspired for Winter, and I must say it comes down to Jenny from the classic movie
Love Story. While it is not my fave movie of all time, I am totally in love with the character Jenny's fashion sense. I am also in love with Ali MacGraw's real life fashion sense, but we'll save that for another blog :)

So, I threw together a Jenny Fashion Inspiration nugget. I love her knit pom hats, scarves, and simple, clean style. What looks are inspiring you this season?

Fashion Nugget and.......it's Frickin' Freezing!!

Good Morning Peeps!

Yes, it is frickin' freezing here in Middle Tennessee! Yesterday morning's temperature was 11 degrees! Hee heee. Honestly, it is a nice change of pace for this Florida girl. I've always loved the cold, and now I actually get to experience it a bit.

Ok, I promised an OOTD (or "Fashion Nugget" as I call them) This is not one of my best, thanks to the poor lighting. I will now resign myself to taking photos outside, or downstairs in the den where the lighting is fab. Also, me and the tripod need to become BFFs. The tripod will not win!

Leggings: Mossimo

Cardigan: Mossimo

The first picture kills me, I am looking a bit pissed. This is an outfit I wore to a cupcake date with my friend Cristal. I felt the dress was a bit short, and ended up throwing on a denim mini at the last minute.

Did I say cupcakes? Yes I did! I am unashamed to be a member of he ever-so-trendy cupcake cult. Cristal and I have had a few cupcake dates at Gigi's, and the cakes are amazing! Tons of butter cream icing, and the cake is very fresh. Love them!

Also had to show you these awesome cupcake ornaments that Cristal made me as a housewarming present! Aren't they awesome? She is a very talented and crafty lady.
Well guys, I have to go back to work. I will be blogging much more in the future.....stay tuned!
Let me remind y'all again that as soon as we hit 100 followers (publicly following via the Google Friend Connect thingie at the top of the blog page). So spread the word :)
Stay warm!

Party On

Hello Peeps,

Sorry for the lack of posts lately, but things have been very busy at the Twisted Heroes/Lola-Rocks camp. We're talking 50 orders a day busy. Not that I am complaining in any way, but I have been swamped!

My friend Cristal and I threw a Christmas party at my house on Saturday. It turned out to be too much fun!

You know I have to start with the food, lol. This is one of the many spreads.

Blurry pic of me and Cristal. Don't you love her Santa top? She made it :)

Pic Cristal took of me and Aron by the tree. I'm wearing a Torrid dress, old Target shrug, and a fab necklace I found at Target for $13. It is gold plated and has dangling moonstones, I love it.

We also did a White Elephant/Dirty Santa gift exchange. Poor Kelly ended up with the pooping reindeer, lol.

Well, I have to run and sort clothing and comic books! Oh, I wanted to mention that aside from our website and eBay, you can also purchase our items directly from our facebook page, in the "Shop Now" tab! We don't have everything listed yet, but most of it should be up soon!

I will be back this week with more of a fashion-centric blog. I am thinking it will be about cold weather fashions, since it has been soooo chilly around the US for the past couple of weeks!

Have a great day!
