Leopard and Beer

Hello Peeps,

Hope you all had a fab weekend! Mine was fairly awesome. It started Friday night at Becca's 25th birthday party at
The Flying Saucer in downtown Nashville. Too much beer was consumed, and spilled (courtesy if yours truly). But a fun time was had by all :)

I'm the redhead with her boobs hanging out-how lovely. I also wore heels that night, though there is no photographic evidence to support this fact. I cropped you out of the pic Tracy, as requested :)

We spent the rest of the weekend selling funny books at a comic show in Nashville. It was a pretty bland show, but we made some cash so it's ok. We also got to hang out with Ben and Tracy, which is always a blast. Tracy even bought me turtle earrings! She knows of my love of the "I like tut-les" Zombie Kid. Heck, she introduced me to that insanity!

Ok, so I have been thinking about Fall fashion trends to share. There are many trends to report on (military, lace, shearling, and so on), but I think I will choose leopard because it is by far my fave.

I have had a leopard obsession sine I was 14 years old, and my Mom gave me her 1960s faux fur leopard car coat. It is beyond cool, and when I get back down to a size 16, I am totally rocking that bitch. People say it takes balls to rock leopard, or animal prints in general. Really? I have always worn them, in good times (the above mentioned car coat), and bad (the unfortunate leopard print pants circa 2000). Here are some leopard pics of the moment:

I bought the above Torrid jacket on clearance a month or so ago. It is awesome, and is on clearance again, so go snatch one up!

Hope you all have a fab day!

Obesssions New & Old

Good Morning Peeps,

I had a fun day yesterday! Cristal, Melissa, and I had a birthday lunch for Becca at Demo's in Murfreesboro (or the 'boro as locals call it). Of course none of us brought our cameras, but trust me, fun was had by all.

After lunch we headed over the The Avenue for some shopping. We started at Charming Charlie (a cool accessory store which is color coordinated, hecks yes!) and ended at Old Navy. Here are a few of the goodies (obsessions) that I found.

Plaid Shirt: Old Navy
Gray knit cap and Jackie O Glasses:
Charming Charlie

I am really feeling the plaid shirt thing this season. Initially I wasn't to in to this trend, since I have "been there, done that" with the flannel shirts of the 90s. But the shirts they making this season seem to be a bit fitted, and more lightweight (this one is a lightweight cotton). Yes, I snuck into the Misses size XXL, lol.

The knit cap is too cute, and actually fit my large head! I have been looking for some comfortable, classic, inexpensive sunglasses, and these fit the bill.

I also wanted to share my older obsessions. OK, they aren't old, I bought most of these a month or two ago.

Shoes: Unlisted

Bag: Matt & Nat

Bangles: Target

I bought these shoes on my Florida trip. I haven't worn them as of yet (I'm not much of a heels person), but I think I might wear them to Becca's birthday jam at the Flying Saucer this Friday night. The bag is fab and easy. The bangles, well, let's just say I can't stop wearing them. I picked them up on clearance at Target.

Well, I have tons of stuff to take care of today. Hope everyone is having a great Thursday!

Hugs,

Adrienne

Wishlist for Fall 2010

Hello Again,

It is late, my allergies are killing me, and I am suffering from a bout of house hunting insomnia. So, I decided to give my brain a break from the day-to-day, and have a fashion dream session.

Oh ASOS, how I adore you. I have purchased several looks from your clearance selection this past Summer. Some have been awesome, some have ended up in my eBay store, but all have been fashion forward and I love that. This is a dress I have been drooling over for a while now. I will have to wait and see if it goes on clearance:

ASOS Cotton Crochet Dress

I've been craving a weathered, leather-esque jacket for a while now. I've tried on Mossimo moto jackets at Target, but even the largest sizes turn me into Uni-Boob Woman. Maybe this one would be better.....

ASOS Curve Bomber Jacket

I have a thing for mesh and sparkles. Don't ask. I would probably never wear this, but I loves it.

Faith 21 Jeweled Mesh Pleated Skirt

I have turned up my nose at the small bag trend for several months now, but I have a confession to make. Now I loves them! My big bags still rule, don't get me wrong. But things have been insane lately, so throwing my credit card and phone in a small bag works for me! Guess what other style I turned up my nose at? Yep, crossbody bags, which I also have decided are fab. What have I become? I can't afford this one, but I loves it:

Marc by Marc Jacobs

I think I am finally sleepy, so I will save shoes for another day.

Hugs,

Adrienne

Fashion Nugget of the Day: Fall is Here

Happy Weekend Peeps!
We are still in the process of house hunting, and the stress level is rising daily, lol. We decided to take a day and have some fun, so we headed to downtown Nashville.

I loved my cute yet comfy outfit:
Top: ASOS
Layering Tank: Faith 21
Skirt: Pure Energy
Shoes: Ross
Purse, Necklace, and Bangles: Target

We stopped first at the Farmers Market, and I was thrilled to see all the pumpkins and gourds on display! Ahhhh Fall is here :)

Love these tomato and corn bike racks, heee!

Wheee!

Then we headed to Centennial Park, they have an exact replica of the Parthenon! Craziness!

We didn't really check out the Parthenon, but decided to walk around the park and visit with nature, lol.

Pixies

Hello Peeps,

It has been a bit since I blogged. We are in the middle of house hunting, so things has been a bit nuts in the Rice household.

Yes, after a month, I believe my birthday has finally ended. Yes, I am 4 pounds heavier. No weight obsession in this blog, but I know i have been overeating big time. Time to get back on that horse.

My birthday did end on a good note with the Pixies concert at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. They have been my favorite band for about 15 years (yes I am that old), and I was thrilled to see that they were touring again. Of course my first question the night of the concert was-"What am I going to wear?"

I chose my Sweet Love Top, Torrid mini, Faith 21 leggings, Target sandals from 2 years ago, and my Converse crossbody/festival bag. I swore I wasn't going to rock the smaller bag trend, but here I am doing it. I needed a hands free bag for the show, so I gave in.

Giving Aron a smooch.

The show was amazing. Here are some pics below:

If you're not familiar with the Pixies, check out the classic song above.

You say it's your birthday.....

Hello Peeps,

Though my birthday has been a month long celebration, today is my actual day of birth. I was born at high noon on a full Pisces moon, which accounts for my love of fatty food, fluffy animals, the ocean (not general Virgo traits, lol). Enough astrology strangeness, here are some snippets of my life over the past few weeks.

We spent this weekend at Dragon Con in Atlanta, Georgia. Our friends Ben and Tracy from World of Strange had a booth and we helped them sell their fab t-shirts. I had never been to Dragon Con, but was warned that it is a big mother of a convention, and it was. Though it was tiring, we had so much fun with Ben and Tracy! Here are some pics of the madness:

Me and Aron at the booth

The massive crowds

Jem costume

Conan maybe?

Beautiful, but I have no idea....

Body paint costumes, Kabuki comic characters

Yes, I got to meet Kristen Bauer, who plays Pam on True Blood! She was a sweetheart, and I had no idea what to say to her! I think I just said "Hi, my name is Adrienne" lol.

It was a great time all around. Ate too much, drank too much, laughed too much. Ben and Tracy introduced us to the youtube sensation that is the Turtle Zombie Kid. Check it out below. I must have said "I love tut-les." 1000 times that weekend and drove everyone mad.

I decided to veg out and take it easy today. We had planned to go to dinner, but I decided I'd rather stay in and get take-out Chinese and watch Breaking Bad Season 1.

Creepy Fortune Cookie

Though Aron already bought me too many presents (BCBG bag, Pixies tickets), he surprised me with Season 1 and 2 of The Rachel Zoe Project! Sweeeettt....

Goodnight guys!

I'm feelin' the 90s right now.....

A word of warning, this is a random bloggy, no fashion stuff here:)

I have had 3 songs stuck in my head for the past few weeks: Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody", Alanis Morisette's 'Uninvited", and the Geraldine Fibbers "Dragon Lady"

"Dragon Lady" has to be one of my favorite songs ever. It is from the Fibber's album Lost Somewhere Between the Earth and My Home. The song came first came out when I was about 19 years old. At the time, I thought I understood the angst and restlessness of the song, but honestly , I don't think I really knew what angst and restlessness were until my late 20s. I lost this album during the darker times in my life, but "Dragon Lady" popped into my head recently and hasn't left. It makes me feel nostalgic for the early/mid 1990s, a time of few cell phones, little Internet, and and when life seemed a bit more real. But, it makes me thankful for the person I am at this moment in time. Enjoy.

Ms. Zoe is so frickin' MAJOR!

Hello Peeps,

I noticed, via Twitter, that it is Rachel Zoe's birthday! Happy birthday Ms. Rachel, my fellow Virgo :)

As everyone knows, I am a plus size woman and an feel that ALL women should feel beautiful, from a size 0-30. People like to give Rachel shit for being so thin, and feel that she has contributed to a few of her client's thinness (ex: Nicole Richie, whom I also love). But I disagree. She seems to be a genuinely sweet person, and I couldn't imagine her influencing her clients to be rail thin. I liked Rachel even before I started watching her Bravo reality show. But I must say, that after watching the show, my feelings went from like to lurrrvveee.

Why you might ask? Well, it's because I can relate to Rachel from a fashion standpoint. Fashion is her life. She has a pure love for fashion, and views fashion as art, which I genuinely respect. I can also relate to her as a workaholic, a wife, and a woman trying to juggle her love of glamour with her day to day life.

Here is part one of the most recent episode. I love the part towards the end of this clip where her and Kate Hudson are discussing their large heads. Again, I can relate :)

Hugs!
